R. Gerard Willse, III - Managing Principal

Gerry Willse is Managing Principal and an owner of BMWW with responsibility in marketing research and planning, consulting, branding and account management. He has served as a consultant to educational institutions, professional associations, other non-profits and business for over 30 years. Prior to joining BMWW in 1995 he worked for 23 years successively as vice president, executive vice president, and president of the Barton-Gillet Company. His work focuses on strategic marketing and branding, integrated marketing strategies, and the implementation of marketing programs in support of advancement and recruitment.

Gerry's consulting work includes the strategic research and development of branding and marketing programs for college and universities, corporations, medical institutions, museums, professional associations, and non-profit organizations. His work includes programs for the University of Virginia, Duke university, University of Mary Washington, Hood College, Immaculata University, Cabrini College, Bryn Athyn College, University of Pennsylvania, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Baltimore, Berea College, Mary Baldwin College, Agnes Scott College, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Loyola College, and Johns Hopkins University. Corporate branding and strategic marketing experience includes the National Housing Partnership, Export - Import Bank of the United States, Meridian Medical Technologies, Alex Brown, Freddie Mac, BGE, and the State of Maryland Department of Economic and Community Development.

A graduate of The University of Virginia, Gerry began his career in the marketing communications business after serving in the rank of Lieutenant, U.S. Navy in the 7th Fleet in Vietnam. His work has been published and recognized nationally and he has addressed topics related to strategic marketing and branding at CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) conferences.
